Ryosuke Funayama

Ryosuke Funayama oversees YAMADA Consulting & Spire’s (Y&S) business and client portfolio worldwide, and sits on its Board. He leads efforts to expand the company’s global footprint and grow its range of consulting services.

Since joining YAMADA Consulting Group (YCG) in 2006, he has gathered wide experience in strategy development, restructuring, market expansion, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and post-merger integration. In 2008, he launched and managed a private equity fund, and, with the management division, has also worked on projects involving entry and withdrawal from China.

From 2016, he managed YCG’s successful acquisition of Spire Research and Consulting to form Y&S, focusing on support services for expansion into Asia. In 2018, he established YAMADA Consulting Group USA Inc. in Los Angeles where, as local corporate officer, he oversaw YCG’s international operations.

Rio is a graduate in Law from Waseda University.

Leon Perera

Leon Perera chairs the Board, and serves as YCG’s Executive Director for Global Network Capabilities. He actively contributes to its business development, and travels widely to confer with senior clients, industry leaders and government officials.

He founded Spire Research and Consulting in 2000 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until 2021, amid its integration with YAMADA Consulting Group (YCG). He led more than 2,000 projects for more than 30 major clients, and grew the firm globally.

Previously, he was an Assistant Manager with Singapore’s Economic Development Board.

He regularly speaks at international conferences regularly, and his views are often sought and quoted in regional news media.

He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University with a Double First Class Honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

Japnit Singh specializes in supporting organizations with market entry and growth consulting. He has over 20 years of regional experience working with Fortune 500 companies as well as government agencies from Singapore, USA, Spain, Oman and Japan. 

His expertise lies in market analytics, business partner matching and go-to-market strategies for multinational organizations as well as SMEs, having completed more than 1,000 market research projects. 

Before he joined the firm in 2004, he was with a major property consultancy firm in India.

He holds an Architecture degree, and is a Practicing Management Consultant (PMC) certified by the Singapore Business Advisors & Consultants Council (SBACC). 

Jeffrey Bahar

With more than 20 years of industrial experience in market research, Jeffrey Bahar brings his clients valuable primary research and secondary research services. 

He uses both primary and internal corporate data, and publicly available data sources to derive relevant marketing programs and actionable recommendations in market entry and market growth. 

Jeffrey started Spire’s Indonesian operations in 2003, three years after joining the organisation as a research manager, after stints as a production control engineer and business development manager at other firms.

He holds a Master’s in Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. 

Yasuro Yoshikoshi

Yasuro Yoshikoshi heads Y&S’ business in Thailand, dealing with Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and consulting business opportunities.

He has deep experience from a multi-decade career, much of it in Thailand. He has helped over 800 clients establish Thai subsidiaries in manufacturing, trading and property development as well as fostered business collaboration with Thai corporates and service firms. He also has deep knowledge about the Laos and Myanmar markets. 

Prior to joining the firm in 2017, he worked for Japanese commercial banks for 29 years. He is trained in Law.

Ryo Takahashi

Prior to joining the organization, Ryo worked for Nomura Research Institute and focused on designing growth strategy and building new business.

Benjamin Foo

Adeline Lim

Terence Tay

Terence Tay started work at Y&S in 2019, overseeing valuation and financial due diligence for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions. His clients are from the education, trading, distribution, and real estate industries, as well as manufacturers with an interest in regional SMEs. He is also involved in other services such as post-deal advisory, finance transformation, restructuring and liquidation. Before joining Y&S, he worked in a similar role at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC.

He holds an Accounting degree from Seton Hall University, USA.

Keith Ng

Keith Ng joined the organization in 2018. He specializes in acquisitions and investments across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, food, and energy/sustainability. His responsibilities encompass the entire execution process of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, from pre-acquisition strategy to post-merger integration. He leads new business development for the M&A Advisory business unit. He was previously an assistant investment manager at a Japanese digital healthcare firm.

Keith graduated with an Honours degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Takafumi Kuramoto

Takafumi Kuramoto oversees the Growth Advisory team, collaborating with the firm’s overseas branches to deliver value to Y&S clients.

His specialty is in whole eco-system consulting in the manufacturing and FMCG sectors, which are booming in India and Southeast Asia. He has also led projects in operational and IT management, and interfaces between strategy and merger transactions.

He joined the firm in 2023. Before that he worked at the Indian branch of a Japanese research firm.

He has a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Niigata University, Japan.

Yoichiro Miyaoka

Chi Nguyen

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, she oversaw the development of online partner matching solutions that helped hundreds of companies across Southeast Asia to meet potential business partners. Chi has more than 20 years’ experience in business development, and her forte is in helping clients better understand the dynamic market landscape of Vietnam. Prior to joining the firm, she was with Nielsen.

Chi holds a degree in Business Management from Hanoi National University in Vietnam.

Il Ho Pak

Il Ho Pak develops and executes projects with the team in Vietnam. In particular, he is involved in all Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) operations, where the firm connects Japanese companies facing shrinking domestic demand with Vietnamese partners who have financial and technical issues in coping with rapid growth. Over the past 10 years, he has been involved in the closing of over 20 M&A deals.

Previously, he worked as an attorney in Japan, handling civil litigation cases.

He is a graduate of Chiba University Law School in Japan.

Takuya Makimura

Takuya Makimura joined the company in 2011, supporting Japanese SMEs to turn around and grow their business. He is also expanding Y&S’ presence in the country.

Prior to joining the organization, he worked as an auditor at one of Japan’s Big Four accounting firms.

Daniel Faricy

Daniel Faricy joined the organization in 2018. He brings with him over 30 years’ experience in management, sales and marketing.

He works closely with Y&S consultants in the US and Asia on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and traditional consulting. He has developed numerous opportunities for US businesses, including key clients in the agricultural and food industries, to excel in Asia.

His previous work experience includes digital marketing, consulting and banking.

He holds an MBA from Northeastern University.

David Llamas

Yoshi Fujimoto

Yoshi Fujimoto has been with the company since 2007. He has overseen more than 10 M&A transactions, and has also worked in the pre-acquisition stage for Japanese companies, doing market research, and crafting their US strategy and acquisition criteria. Previously, he worked at an HR solutions consulting company.

Yoshi graduated with an Architecture degree from Osaka Metropolitan University in Japan.

Tawikarn Kingthong

Minoru Sugizaki

He brings more than five decades of experience in creating corporate strategies and business facilitation, and has been involved with countless engagements on corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and risk management.

Adnan is an innovative and analytical strategist with strong networks with government and family businesses. He is also the CEO and founder of ZASK Associates, U.A.E.

He holds a diploma in Business, from Siblin, Lebanon.

Aditya Sapru

John Yam

Dr Justin Hanse Lee

Dr Justin Lee became the Managing Director of Spire Korea in 2002, growing the firm in its early years. He has led major research and consulting projects for clients such as the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, and on seafood for the Norwegian Seafood Council. He is a recognised expert on Korea’s ageing society, writing books, and speaking and lecturing on the topic. His career history includes research work and business development.

Dr Lee holds a PhD in Agricultural Science from the University of Western Australia.

Bambang S. L. Tobing

Bambang Tobing supports the Y&S teams in research project execution and review, and in mentoring consultants. Prior to joining the company, he worked as a research consultant before co-founding his own research agency.

Bambang graduated from the University of Indonesia with a Science degree.

Windy Pradipta

Windy Pradipta (Dyra) joined the firm as a senior consultant in 2015. She has more than eight years’ experience in consultative selling. She supports Y&S customers in market entry, feasibility, consumer research, market environment and public policy studies. Between 2022 and 2023, she contributed to Y&S winning two projects worth IDR4 billion (US$260,000) each. Her first job was as a junior analyst with an Indonesian government agency.

She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Trisakti University in Indonesia.

Albertus Edy Rianto

Edy Rianto joined the company in 2013. He leads a team specializing in telecommunications projects, with a focus on business development, market entry and growth. Yogi Priyantoro

Vinita Nath

She has built the firm’s capabilities across many industries from insurance and healthcare to agri-business. She also leads the consultant team in process improvement and integration, preparation and internal training.

Saurabh Sharma

Before joining the firm in 2012, Saurabh worked in a publication house for the electronics industry and as a management consultant.

Dai Tianjun

Dai Tianjun leads the financial and deals advisory practice for YAMADA China. She has extensive practical experience in providing assurance and business advisory services. Together with the Shanghai team, she supports clients in screening viable target companies, and conducting negotiations and pre-deal due diligence. She joined the firm in 2016.

Previously, she worked at a Japanese company’s China headquarters, where she was in charge of financial and funds management, and internal auditing.

She holds a Literature degree, and is a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Takaaki Hirai

Takaaki Hirai

Rio is the Chief Executive officer of Spire Group. He is also the Executive Officer of Yamada Consulting Group, heading the Global Business Department.
